THE MUCH revered has conjured up a list of the top 200 collectors in the world this year. Joining the likes of actor Leonardo Di Caprio and Francois Pinault (the French businessman, father of Salma Hayek's husband Francois-Henri, and owner of Kering) are South East Asia's prolific art couple Rajeeb and Nadia Samdani. The Bangladeshi Samdanis are not only collectors of art of their country— their vast collection includes modern and contemporary artists from India and Pakistan too. In fact, Mumbai-based art curator, Diana Campbell-Betancourt, runs the collection for them and another resident of the city, Eve Lemesle will be rehanging and installing everything which will be unveiled in October. Rajeeb, who is co-chair (along with Delhi art patron Lekha Poddar) and a founding member of Tate's South Asian Acquisition Committee, and Nadia are best known for their biennial Dhaka Art Summit which brings together curators, artists, and other arts professionals from around the globe.
