On Thursday, a Bangladeshi court sentenced two men to death for the 2013 murder of an atheist blogger who had criticized Islam. This is at the end of a year in which there was a series of murders of bloggers, writers and free thinkers. Since 2013, five other bloggers and one publisher have been killed in Muslim majority Bangladesh, a country that calls itself secular. Commentators, however, are observing signs of increasing extremism in pockets among its 160 million people.
